History Repeats Itself

By H. L. Mencken, 1920

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Henry Louis Mencken was a journalist, satirist and social critic who wrote for the Baltimore Evening Sun. His pieces targeted incompetent political leaders such as Warren G. Harding, whom he is referring to in this citation. It still rings true today.
