Learning typeface design with Carl Crossgrove and Type@CooperWest.
This is a blackletter typeface that I designed based on my own calligraphy. It’s a great way to hone one’s lettering skills and develop a keen eye for letterforms. I think I’ll call it Martinez Textura.

- Contextual alternates for d, i, j, m, n, p, r, u, v, w, x and y
- Ligatures for fi, fl, ft, ti, tp, tr, tu, tw and ty
- Swash capitals for A, B, M, N, P, R, U, V, W and Y

Hello Raul; Good for you doing typography. You’re ahead ! I bought some time ago Fontographer, Illustrator to design some fonts but never got to it but will continue this interest soon. I sat beside him at one of the FOC lectures in the SF Public Library. Delve W who used to take Fort Mason who is also a typographer, pointed out his name to me. Did you take the class at Cooper here in SF or NY? Is the course expensive? What software did you use? FontLab, Robofont? Glyph? For practice it’s nice to copy old calligraphy samples but in order to get notice , you can do your own like Alan Blackman Galahad, a type that never existed before, Keep up the good work…
